Time is flowing, never ceasing. As time passes by, memories are accumulated little by little. Memories put away in the depth of our mind, rarely being harked back, gradually become blurred, slowly dissolving. However, as soon as we try to retrace the past, memories begin to surface from the depth, becoming more and more palpable, like a rolling series of pictures on the marquee. Unfortunately, in whatever way the memories may be revealed as vivid as possible, there exists an insurmountable distance between moments of occurrences and moments of recollections.

From this perspective on memories, our team associates the fluidity of water with the passage and emergence of recollections: our work “FlowBum” (Flowing Album) employs the image of water to express the fluidity of time and memories and awakens memories through the movement of agitating the surface of water, making a series of recollections loom before us. The flowing water continuously brings out and carries away pictures of our memories. In a similar way, the flowing time ceaselessly brings forth and takes away every touching moment that cannot be temporarily suspended. (The screen displays every “present” moment of occurrence.) The flowing water continuously brings out and carries away pictures of our memories. Similarly, the longer we have not recalled and scrutinized the memories preserved in our mind, gradually the more blurred these memories have become, no longer as palpable as they used to be. (The screen presents memories in our mind, flowing toward the depth, extending to a more and more unreachable distance as time passes by.) The flowing water continuously brings out and carries away pictures of our memories. Likewise, as we try to retrace the past, a series of fragments of memories are successively recollected. Even though the moments of occurrences cannot be suspended, still we may spend some time harking back and appreciating these dearest memories. At this moment, the picture on display stops moving ahead, zooming in at the center to the full extent of the screen, resembling the emergence of memories occupying our thoughts and emotions. (The screen reveals the present state of our mind.)

Intangible memories arise through the concrete surface of water. The images are projected onto the surface, virtually before our eyes but not to be physically touched: what we actually touch and see are water and projections through its surface. Emergence through the medium of water discloses the intangible essence of memories, in spite of their vivid representations on the screen.
